Rebellion. Magic. Romance.

It has been decades since magical storms have been seen in Bourshkanya’s skies. Their return should be Celka’s greatest moment—giving the resistance the weapons they need to overthrow the tyrannical Stormhawk—but after a lifetime of hiding her gift from the State, she’s had too little training. Hazy lessons from a father lost to the secret police aren’t enough, and calling down magical lightning with no clue how to control it is too reckless, even for her.
Gerrit, son of the Stormhawk, is unable to safely use his magic despite the State’s best training. Fleeing the Army, he stumbles upon high wire walker Celka in her travelling circus and senses the gift she’s hiding. Fearing capture, Celka ambushes him. She can’t trust an arrogant tool of the State, but his knowledge of magic begins to fill the holes in her education, while her easy intuition unlocks Gerrit’s own control.
As the resistance demands more from Celka and the secret police close in on Gerrit’s trail, the two must decide how much they’re willing to risk for their beliefs—and for each other.

Lies. Treason. Magic.

Celka can use magic in unprecedented ways—ways that may make her the perfect assassin. If Gerrit can get them close enough to his tyrannical father, together they could end the horrors of his rule. But to do it, Gerrit must prove unflinching loyalty to the regime.
Filip swore to give his life to protect Gerrit, his best friend. But as the man he loves turns himself into a stranger, and the woman who has come into their lives turns to him for protection, Filip must decide where his own loyalties truly lie.
If they’re successful, the three of them could liberate Bourshkanya from a reign of terror—but the cost may be everything they hold dear.

Imbue the Sky (Bourshkanya, Book 3)
Coming December 2025.
War. Rebellion. Magic.
Celka’s innovative magic let her assassinate the Stormhawk—Bourshkanya’s unkillable dictator. Alongside Filip, a State-trained mage and Army officer, she now joins the resistance, fighting to turn that single victory into a revolution.
Gerrit, Celka’s co-conspirator and the Stormhawk’s son, turned his back on the resistance, believing them destined to fail. He supports his sister as the next Stormhawk—certain she’ll be a better leader than their father.
But the Stormhawk’s legacy is powerful, and Bourshkanya’s fascist military would rather follow Gerrit’s sadistic elder brother. Unless the two sides of the revolution can find common ground, both could end up destroyed.
Alliances form and facture, and new magic fills the skies. Bourshkanya is at war.
First vs. Second Editions
The first two books of The Bourshkanya Trilogy originally released at the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic. They’re re-releasing in 2024 with new covers and updated content, and Book 3 (Imbue the Sky) is coming in 2025.
Which edition should you read? New readers will find an easier entrance into the world in the second edition of Weave the Lightning, where new chapters and scenes introduce the magic system more gradually. The Storm’s Betrayal has small changes in the second edition, but is largely the same.
